Artist in Residence

I am very much looking forward to being the Artist in Residence at Nature in Art Museum and Art Gallery, Twigworth, Gloucester, UK, from 17 - 22 March 2009 where I will be demonstrating Encaustic Wax Art daily from 10am - 5pm. Nature in Art is the world’s first museum dedicated exclusively to fine, decorative and applied art inspired by nature and is set in a beautiful Georgian mansion dating from the mid 1700s. The museum has twice been specially commended in the National Heritage Museum of the Year Awards. With a licensed coffee shop serving meals, plus gardens, free parking and a beautiful setting, I hope you'll pop in and say hello if you are in the area. As well as Encaustic Wax Art, there will also be some of my Mixed Media Art, Digital Artwork and Photographs on display with lots of items available for purchase. I look forward to seeing you!

Well, what a long time it is since I posted on here. So much has been happening and so I thought I'd bring you up to date on my latest news. I shall be teaching a workshop for beginners at the end of November for those who would like to learn about painting in hot beeswax. Hope to see you there!

ENCAUSTIC ART WORKSHOP

Sunday, 30 November 2008 from 10.30am - 3.30pm

Introduction to Encaustic Art at Prema Arts Centre, Uley, Gloucestershire.

Discover the beautiful medium of wax. Create beautiful, vibrant pictures in no time at all using coloured beeswax and a small electric iron - no artistic skills necessary. Elaine Jones has been practising Encaustic Art since 1997 and she will take you through the four basic steps required before moving on to some more advanced techniques during the afternoon. Learn how to create stunning abstract designs, simple landscapes and beautiful fantasy pictures. All equipment is provided, though there will be a small charge for any materials used beyond your basic kit. Please wear old clothes or an apron as wax does run and doesn’t wash out.

Guiding Light

Another Encaustic Wax painting for you - this one is called Guiding Light. I hope you like it.

Christmas is fast approaching and hopefully I've done most of my shopping. Still have some things to post though, so they might end up as New Year gifts instead. It's the thought that counts, isn't it. And I did THINK about posting them in time! ;)

Have a few exhibitions planned for next year so am going to be busy painting. I'll post what I do on here and would love to hear what you think of them.

Bridge of Dreams

This week has been fun and I've been doing lots more wax paintings. As you might have guessed by now, I love doing Fantasy paintings and this is my latest one. It's called Bridge of Dreams.

Last week I did my first ever demonstration of wax painting for my local art group at Nature in Art Museum and Art Gallery in Gloucester. I was so nervous to begin with, but once I got started I could have gone on all night! It's great fun painting with an iron - beats doing the laundry any time!
